DOWNTOWN SOMERVILLE FAMILY SESSION

I don’t often talk about or blog family sessions - and I want to clear the air about why. It’s definitely NOT because they aren’t important. I ADORE photographing my sweet couples and their growing families, from bump to baby to bunches of babes! The main reason you don’t see a ton of family work on my blog/website/social media is because I specialize in weddings. What does that mean exactly? It just means the majority of my time is spent serving my wedding couples. From the initial meeting, engagement session, timeline creation, family list curation, the actual wedding day, all the culling and editing, the album designing and revisions, submitting for publications, and countless emails about all the fun details of their wedding - I don’t have a ton of extra time in my day. And the time that I do have usually goes into boring business maintenance or marketing and sharing about weddings (are you sick of the word ‘wedding’ yet?!).

But behind the scenes, I do photograph quite a few “non-wedding” sessions per year for our lovely past couples, including maternity, newborn, and families of all sizes. These sessions are SO SPECIAL to me!!! By the time my couples are growing their families I’ve often known them for YEARS!!! Our relationship surrounding their wedding lasts an average of 2-3 years from start to finish and you can’t just throw that away overnight. So it is the highest honor to be asked to photograph their post-wedding major life milestones as well. <3

Take Melissa and Ryan for example. They first contacted me in 2016, then we photographed their engagement in 2017, their wedding in 2018, and now their sweet family in 2020. We hope to continue photographing them for years to come! So while I don’t always have the time to blog or publicize “non-wedding” sessions, I love that we can still manage to schedule a few each year to stay connected with our tribe!! We love nothing more than remaining in your lives and being there with you for all the incredible memories life brings you!! xo, Cassi
