BOW BRIDGE PROPOSAL, NYC: MORGAN & KEN
Morgan is one of my favorite photographers of all time, so when she commissioned me to capture a Signature Session for her and her boyfriend Ken, I was ecstatic! And nervous. And so honored because she has impeccable taste. And nervous. And giddy because I knew they would both be dressed so chic. And nervous.
And then Ken contacted me to get my thoughts on the idea of him PROPOSING during our photo session. Did you hear that? That was a collective gasp from every photographer reading this who has ever photographed a proposal. On the best day in the best of circumstances with no onlookers, a proposal is still stressful. And Ken wanted to propose on one of the busiest (and most beautiful) bridges in all of New York City.
And yet…there we were, on the 21st night of September, with the most incredible golden glow, with magic in the air, and the world slowed as Ken dropped to one knee. Everyone around just disappeared. It was just Morgan and Ken. Just a beautiful girl and a handsome boy alone together in their handmade dome of romance. Even with my front row seat, I felt as though I slipped away to watch from a distance. Like I was watching my favorite movie. Not a nerve in sight. Just pure joy and love and overwhelming emotion. And as if on cue, the city picked up speed again shortly after Morgan’s hearty YES! Strangers congratulated the newly engaged couple and we continued to shoot around bicyclists and dog walkers. But that magic stayed in the air for the rest of our Central Park session!
As we soaked up the sunset around Bethesda Terrace, Morgan and Ken more than delivered on my previous assumption of chicness. They donned Dior and Gucci, BHLDN and Loeffler Randall — all with effortless perfection. I bid them adieu as they sailed away for a romantic row around the lake and the Loeb Boathouse. Morgan and Ken, thank you for sharing your magic with us all!
Ladies and gents, this is the moment you’ve waited for (dun dun)…
