PROSPECT PARK BOATHOUSE WEDDING: VANCE + STEPH
I absolutely LOVED photographing this gorgeous Prospect Park Boathouse wedding in Brooklyn, NY. When people ask me why I love weddings so much, I immediately think of couples like Steph and Vance. We met almost exactly a year ago and had an instant connection! We've bonded over many emails, phone calls, and even a Hibachi double date. Nothing says "let's be friends" like sake and a man throwing shrimp at you! All of this plus their super fun engagement session in Union Square, meant Chris and I were able to show up as both professionals and friends on the wedding day. I felt Steph's nerves as we experienced that dreadful 10% chance of rain and teared up watching Vance as his bride walked down the aisle. It was a day full of love, emotions, beauty, and FUN! :)
I started the day with the girls at Parlor for hair & make-up and then we walked over to the Nu Hotel to finish getting ready...
Vance chose to get a professional shave at Tomcats Barbershop the morning of the big day! He was pampered from start to end with hot towels, face massages, or more!
In the days before the wedding, we were all stalking the Weather Channel religiously. Much to our delight, the percentage chance of rain lowered each day until it finally called for only 10% chance! Normally, 10% chance of rain means you likely won't see a single drop...this time, we definitely saw all 10% of that chance and we saw it during the First Look. Sad? No, not at all! The rain forced us to shoot in locations I never would have noticed if it weren't raining - locations that I fell in looove with!
Thankfully the rain cleared up just in time for the wedding party photos and ceremony!
I almost can't even handle how beautiful all of their decor was! Steph created the vision and then called in Rock Paper Scissors Events to help execute it on the day of!
Each table was "numbered" with a large postcard with a historic Brooklyn location from the Boathouse itself to the Brooklyn Bridge and City Hall!
Isn't this the most passionate kiss you've ever seen!? I think it rivals the famous V-J Day kiss!
Guests took their escort cards out of this library-style card holder. Just like the ones seen on the tables only smaller, the postcards are a beautiful Brooklyn token that double as a favor.
Guests were also spoiled with a local favorite - Blue Marble Ice Cream! The girls at Blue Marble have a simple goal to "make tastebuds happy and hearts feel good." Their organic ice cream certainly made our tastebuds happy!
And of course, I'll end with a few of my favorite FUNbooth photos! Vance and Steph, thank you so much for inviting me into your lives! You are both so wonderful and I look forward to many double-dates to come! :)
